League of Legends lore is so extensive that it is hard to believe all of this is for a game。 I loved how they kept all the hidden/unexplored parts of Runeterra (like Ixtal, Bandle City, etc。) a mystery yet gave just enough details to know their charm。 As someone who plays the game, it is awesome to explore the Realms of Runeterra。

An interesting read for anyone who knows the game。 Does carry forth a lot of the problems with League lore in general though。 My main thought of that being you suddenly get a piece of lore information that makes you realize either 1) something they tried to convey before has been unclear for years or 2) it just was brand new in here and now you have to rethink characters/a region (the first think that comes to mind for me with this is vastayan ages/aging)。 It gave me tidbits of information (some An interesting read for anyone who knows the game。 Does carry forth a lot of the problems with League lore in general though。 My main thought of that being you suddenly get a piece of lore information that makes you realize either 1) something they tried to convey before has been unclear for years or 2) it just was brand new in here and now you have to rethink characters/a region (the first think that comes to mind for me with this is vastayan ages/aging)。 It gave me tidbits of information (some cool!) that seemed very miscellaneous and some genuinely new information, as a person who's mostly tried to keep up on lore as it comes out (there are definitely people who are better at that than me though)。 I say miscellaneous because there isn't a baseline of like "We'll cover x part of all regions," what kind of information you get on each region is somewhat random。 And because of that it does feel very lacking at the same time。 This really really would have been the opportunity to give us actual information about Bandle City (which honestly, I feel like we deserve some with how many characters are technically from there) but at this point I'm just going to assume they're not going to ever focus on it? It gets three paragraphs in here。 Literally just a page spread that's mostly illustration。 The Targon section is also pretty small which was personally disappointing since that's my favourite region。 That being said OH MY GOD A TIMELINE。 THERE'S A TIMELINE。 Very general (if you want like character ages, there's nothing that specific), it goes over major events in relationship to the founding of Noxus (so when the Rune Wars happened, Azir's failed ascension, etc)。 That was like the shining lore gem in here。 The short story "The Daring Darling" was FABULOUS, and "Water & Shade to You" was lovely too。 。。。more

Absolutetly beautiful artdesign。 Most of the book contains information about the various regions of runeterra and beyond。 It also includes shortstories to some of these regions。 All of them are well written and League of Legends Fans might recognize some characters。My favorite story was the one of Bilgewater, but i really enjoyed the ones of shurima and ionia, too。

*3。5I was expecting more from the short stories。。。 But over all I love the LOL Universe! Very interesting! I wish they did more books were they put the short stories of the big events in chronological order。

Excellent stories and so many additional details about each region。 Beautiful artwork and attention to detail。 My only complaint would be that the chapters about Ixtal, Bandle City, Targon, and the Void are too short。

If you happen to play the game, definitely give this book a read。Featuring beautiful art and brilliant short stories, this gorgeous little book brought the League world to life for me。 The quality of the physical product itself was also incredible, and I'm shocked at how much effort clearly went into this one。 If you happen to play the game, definitely give this book a read。Featuring beautiful art and brilliant short stories, this gorgeous little book brought the League world to life for me。 The quality of the physical product itself was also incredible, and I'm shocked at how much effort clearly went into this one。 。。。more

A fascinating guide to the huge wealth of talent behind the League setting。 Beautiful art, detailed worldbuilding, a handful of short stories that are satisfying and attention-grabbing。 Definitely worth picking up if you're at all curious about the setting。I only have two gripes: one, that not every region has all that much detail (Demacia and Noxus have like 20 pages each, the relatively new Ixtal has about 4, and that makes sense。。。 but Bandle City only has two pages total??) and two, that a f A fascinating guide to the huge wealth of talent behind the League setting。 Beautiful art, detailed worldbuilding, a handful of short stories that are satisfying and attention-grabbing。 Definitely worth picking up if you're at all curious about the setting。I only have two gripes: one, that not every region has all that much detail (Demacia and Noxus have like 20 pages each, the relatively new Ixtal has about 4, and that makes sense。。。 but Bandle City only has two pages total??) and two, that a few of the short stories rely too heavily on League characters。I know it seems strange to criticize the League worldbook for having League characters, but the best stories are the ones that focus on the people, and their lifestyles and day-to-day struggles。 The Noxus story is probably my favorite - it details a recently-conquered town as its people adjust to life under a new banner - and I don't think it mentions any champions by name at all。 Even so, you get a sense of what the regional culture, the attitudes toward what's good and bad, what made the region strong。And then you have the Shadow Isles story, which is a murder mystery that the reader will either solve immediately (if they're at all familiar with the games) or be utterly confused by (caution, this paragraph contains spoilers)。 There's some good worldbuilding early on, as the characters go through their daily routines, showing why they choose to live in such a dangerous area, and then。。。 gasp! All the boats are trapped in chains made of blood! And people are dying! "Oh by the way," says the mysterious aristocrat, "my name is Vladmir。" If you're familiar with League, the story's tension is immediately gone。 If you aren't familiar, too bad, the story assumes you are and never goes into detail on who he is or what he can do, it just shows you the effects of what he does and assumes you'll nod your head and say "yeah, that's Vlad for you。"I know I spent a whole paragraph on one negative thing but there's so much good in the book beyond that。 Cool concept art, history (including a historical timeline!), and lots of details on the lesser-known bits of lore。 Definitely worth picking up。 。。。more

A beautiful book with some fantastic stories inside。 The world building for League is on another level completely, and this book just furthers that sentiment。 The artwork (easily the best team in League of Legends) knocks it out of the park with this book, showing some of the most beautiful illustrations of landscapes, cities, architecture, characters etc。 etc。It's all gorgeous, and very high quality。 5/5 A beautiful book with some fantastic stories inside。 The world building for League is on another level completely, and this book just furthers that sentiment。 The artwork (easily the best team in League of Legends) knocks it out of the park with this book, showing some of the most beautiful illustrations of landscapes, cities, architecture, characters etc。 etc。It's all gorgeous, and very high quality。 5/5 。。。more

This book is a fantastic companion to the game。 It's perfect if you're not simply satisfied with the game and want to learn more about the lore of Runeterra and its different nations。 My favourite section has got to be Piltover and Zaun, but then again I've always had a soft spot for steampunk。 The short stories embedded within are awesome, and the two that stood out took place in P&Z and the Shadow Isles。 Very cool, gripping stories, both of them。 Of course, I can't review this book without men This book is a fantastic companion to the game。 It's perfect if you're not simply satisfied with the game and want to learn more about the lore of Runeterra and its different nations。 My favourite section has got to be Piltover and Zaun, but then again I've always had a soft spot for steampunk。 The short stories embedded within are awesome, and the two that stood out took place in P&Z and the Shadow Isles。 Very cool, gripping stories, both of them。 Of course, I can't review this book without mentioning the art; it's filled to the brim with absolutely stunning and detailed illustrations。 There's just so much to wrap your head around。 Be warned though, this book will make you wish there's an RPG version of League, because the lore is just that awesome。 :) 。。。more

We knew nothing of these people, of the chemtech barons of Zaun, of the guardian mechanical angels of Piltover, of the ancient magic of Ionia。Well, this book sets aside the wonderful heroes from League of Legends and tells you the story of the cities they came from and the people that breathe life into them。 The illustrations depicting the people and how they dressed and the cities in a vast detail help the reader create the perfect map of Runeterra。 Along with basic information which makes the book feel almost like a historical relic, the stories from each realm are vivid and well written, showing you a glimpse in the life and hardship of those who do not fight in the rift。 Although it is a very satisfying book to read and I could not put it down for the life of me, it feels like another one is on the way。 It feels like certain information is hidden away from the reader or just slightly teased in order to leave us wanting more and even speculate that maybe other books might be in the making and I for sure hope there will be more books about the continent。 After all, this place has some of my favorite heroes and villains。 。。。more
